Oishii Doubles Its Grocery Distribution in 2026, Expanding to 500+ U.S. Retail Locations Across 25 States
PR Newswire
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 27, 2026
Q4 growth across the East Coast and Southeast adds Walmart, The Fresh Market and Giant Food, powered by a 282% gain in Nikko Berry production and new Stay-Fresh packaging
JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Oishii, the company behind the world’s largest indoor Smart Farm, known for growing pesticide-free, Non-GMO Project Verified strawberries year-round, today announced a significant expansion of its U.S. retail footprint—advancing its mission of making better produce accessible to all. This fall surge is part of a broader year-over-year increase that will bring Oishii to more than 500 retail locations by the end of 2026, more than doubling its points of distribution. The rollout marks the brand’s first launch with Walmart, The Fresh Market, and Giant Food, alongside an expanded partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market. The expanded retail network now includes:
- Walmart – 78 stores across New Jersey and Pennsylvania
- The Fresh Market – 84 stores across the Southeast, including first-time entry into North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama
- Giant Food – 30 stores across Maryland and Virginia
- Sprouts Farmers Market – 34 additional stores across Florida and Georgia
The Premium Grade Nikko Berry drives most of the new retail availability. Earlier this year, Oishii introduced new formats, price points, and packaging across its Omakase, Koyo, and Nikko Berries, organizing the lineup across Premium, Reserve, and Connoisseur Grade offerings designed for different uses and occasions. Within that lineup, the Premium Grade Nikko Berry combines a more accessible price point and innovative packaging designed to support broader grocery distribution. Its 7.5-ounce package has an MSRP of $7.99, with shelf prices varying by retailer and location, and features new Stay-Fresh top-seal packaging that uses 80% less plastic than traditional clamshell packaging and extends the Nikko Berry’s shelf life by 33%, allowing Oishii to ship farther and reach more retail markets.
While Walmart, The Fresh Market, and Giant Food represent new retail relationships, Oishii is also expanding with existing partners, including Sprouts Farmers Market. Following a successful initial launch with Sprouts in the Northeast, Oishii has grown its presence with the retailer from 20 to 65 locations, a 225% increase, with its latest expansion bringing the berries to additional stores in Florida and Georgia.
Supplying these new doors starts at the farm. Since the beginning of 2026, the company has increased Nikko Berry production by 282%, improved sellable yield per plant by 100%, and increased total robotic-harvested berries by 50%. Continued advances in its Smart Farm technology and upgrades to farm conveyance systems have further enabled Oishii to scale Nikko Berry production to meet demand from new retail partners, while expanded R&D efforts in the U.S. and Japan continue to accelerate these gains.
“We’re excited to continue finding new ways to bring our strawberries to more people, especially as consumers look for greater consistency in flavor, ripeness, and freshness,” said Rita Hudetz, Oishii’s Chief Commercial Officer. “With our Nikko Berry, we are better able to meet those needs while making the Oishii experience part of more consumers’ everyday shopping habits. We’re thrilled to see our retail partners recognize that opportunity and share our enthusiasm for bringing more shoppers the quality they are looking for.”
The announcement follows a strong year of investment across Oishii’s smart farms, products, and commercial business. Since January, the company has introduced new ways for consumers to shop its berries, continued investing in its smart farm operations, expanded its research capabilities, and is on track to reach 500+ stores across 25 states by the end of 2026.
With the larger network in place, Oishii will focus on supporting its growing base of stores and grocery partners while identifying opportunities to deepen its presence in existing markets and reach more consumers.
