Mildred Elley College Announces Middle States Accreditation

ALBANY, NY, UNITED STATES, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Chairwoman of the Board, Faith Takes, has announced that Mildred Elley College has received the prestigious designation of Middle States institutional accreditation. With this recognition, Mildred Elley College moves to an advanced level in the world of higher education.

Middle States Accreditation is a nationally recognized mark of excellence that demonstrates their commitment to providing students with a high-quality education and positions Mildred Elley among respected institutions of higher education.

This accreditation will also be beneficial to the school and the students in several ways, including the ability of the college to offer a more diverse array of academic programs as well as the potential for more advanced degrees such as bachelor’s degrees in the future.

Since 2019, Mildred Elley College has been pursuing this goal collaborating with all stakeholders on campus including faculty, administrators, students and employers to meet the more rigorous academic standards required, as well as the governance and compliance expectations.

The journey of Mildred Elley College to the goal of this designation has been an aspiration of the Owner and Chairwoman of the Board for more than 40 years. Purchasing a nearly defunct secretarial school in 1985, Faith Takes led the institution through an evolution of changes including its registration as a state recognized business school, a nationally accredited institution and the authorization of the New York State Board of Regents to offer associate’s degrees in 1997. The ambition of Middle States accreditation grew as the operation grew.

“It was perhaps a lofty objective, but it inspired all of us to work harder and be better at serving our students,” said Faith Takes. “We do everything here with the objective of helping people achieve their goals, allowing the students to realize the fulfillment of their dreams for a rewarding career with a pathway to future success. I am extremely proud of the faculty and staff at Mildred Elley College who made this happen. It may have been my vision, but it was their work that brought this dream to fruition.”

Along the way, the Main Campus in Albany, NY grew and a branch campus was opened in Manhattan in 2010. In 2025, an extension site was opened in Amsterdam NY, representing the demands of the communities’ needs for health care employees. Mildred Elley College also changed its programs along the way to reflect the economic times offering now as its main specialization health care occupations including nursing, certified medical assistant, massage therapist, certified nursing assistant and phlebotomist. The school also has two totally online programs in business management and paralegal—both associates level degrees.
